    • Hillman has worked as the Broncos'...

Hillman has worked as the Broncos' No. 2 running back since the beginning of training camp, ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: With Montee Ball slated to work as the primary back, Hillman hopes to hold off C.J. Anderson for the No. 2 role. It sound like Hillman is comfortably ahead of Anderson at this early juncture, but the report also notes that undrafted free agent Juwan Thompson has seen some work as the No. 2 running back in goal-line sets.

    • Ogletree has emerged as the favorite...

Ogletree has emerged as the favorite to serve as the Lions' No. 3 wide receiver, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Analysis: With Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate locked in as the starters, Ogletree will compete for snaps with the likes of Kris Durham and Ryan Broyles, among others. The Lions found a solid Megatron complement in Tate, but still lack depth at the wide receiver position. While the lack of depth is an issue, it certainly helps that the Lions have Brandon Pettigrew and first-round pick Eric Ebron at tight end, not to mention a pair of talented receiving backs in Reggie Bush and Joique Bell. If Johnson and Tate stay healthy, there shouldn't be many targets available for the Lions' other wideouts.

    • Angerer is dealing with a head...

Angerer is dealing with a head injury, and he will be subject to the NFL's concussion protocol.

Analysis: The oft-injured Angerer dealt with a concussion last September, but he doesn't seem to have a notable history of head injuries. With Sean Weatherspoon (torn Achilles) out for the season, Angerer seemingly has a chance to earn some playing time, though the Falcons are expected to start second-year players Paul Worrilow and Joplo Bartu.

    • Johnson returned to practice Thursday but...

Johnson returned to practice Thursday but once again limped off, according to the St. Louis American.

Analysis: This is hopefully just Johnson working out the links of a summer away from football and not something more serious. The Rams will likely hold him out of a few practices before letting him back on the field again.

    • Hilton (finger) is not practicing Thursday,...

Hilton (finger) is not practicing Thursday, Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star reports.

Analysis: Hilton, who jammed his finger during Wednesday's practice, will likely be back on the field before long. The greater concern for prospective fantasy owners is the increased competition for targets, with both Reggie Wayne (knee) and Dwayne Allen (hip) bouncing back from major injuries, while Hakeem Nicks was signed in the offseason. Coby Fleener also figures to gobble up some targets, and running backs Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw are both capable receivers.
